Itinerary
Day 1
Meet at JR Shizuoka Station / Transfer to the Minami-Alps region by chartered car
Minami-Alps Biosphere Reserve Museum / Ikawa, Shizuoka City
- Learn about the history, geology, flora, fauna, and the way of life in the Ikawa region.
- A local farmer who grows native Ikawa crops shares their origins and culinary uses.
- Join a hands-on mini cooking session using native Ikawa crops with the guidance of the local farmer.
Simples / Mariko, Shizuoka City
- Dine at Simples, a restaurant led by owner-chef Mr. Yasuhiko Inoue, whose cuisine attracts gourmets from across Japan. He has trained in Belgium, Paris, and Italy for a total of six years.
- Enjoy a dinner featuring ingredients from Shizuoka Prefecture.
- The fish served at Simples is hand-selected by Sasue Maeda, a top-tier fish purveyor in Yaizu known for supplying premium seafood from Suruga Bay to some of Japan’s finest restaurants. Mr. Naoki Maeda, the owner, is highly respected by both fishermen and top chefs for his expertise and discerning eye.
Izumigaya craft inn, Waraku / Mariko, Shizuoka City
- Stay overnight at Waraku, a beautifully renovated traditional house over 100 years old, adorned with handcrafted items passed down since the Edo period.
- Some rooms feature a cypress bathtub, offering a relaxing experience akin to forest bathing.
- A private Löyly sauna is also available, allowing guests to enjoy the calming aroma of tea-infused steam.
Day 2
Enjoy breakfast at Waraku.
Return to JR Shizuoka Station by a chartered car.
